Ailsa Wiggans

I am a Fellow of the CIPD and have trained extensively for the RAF, Boots the Chemist and Nestlé as an employee then as a self-employed trainer since 2002.

What has been your most rewarding training experience?

I have had many! Running the Nestlé graduate programme for 5 years was a real privilege and I am still in touch with several of those who went through the programme. More recently I ran a communication skills masterclass and the feedback received from one client on the benefits they had received for their business by attending was really inspiring!

Any bizarre or amusing training stories?

I can’t think of any I am prepared to go public on!!!

What made you want to become a trainer?

I ‘fell’ into it by accident and have loved it ever since!

What would you be if not a trainer?

I would probably be involved in coaching or HR in some way.

Which four words describe your training style?

Focussed, challenging, relevant and fun

Feedback you’d most like to get from a delegate following your course?

That what they covered on my training enabled those attending to change the way they did something with really positive results.

Feedback you’d probably get from delegates following one of your courses?

That they had really enjoyed the course and found it useful and relevant.

Any words of advice for a delegate about to go on one of your courses?

Come with an open mind and then act on what you find relevant to you.

What’s the most fun you’ve ever had while on a training course?

I have enjoyed most of the training I have ever done. I get immense satisfaction from experiential learning.

What’s the most important ingredient in order for a course to be successful?

The attitude of those attending.

People Skills

Fear and desire are the two motivating emotions behind every human behaviour.

It was very clear that the trainer had built great rapport with the delegates and they had full confidence in him to try their hand at anything.
