Andrew Minns
Virtually all my skills and knowledge as a trainer have been acquired ‘on the job’. My journey through many areas and levels of hospitality, retail and commercial ventures has proved in-valuable in providing me with simple, workable & successful business solutions.
What has been your most rewarding training experience?
Thankfully, quite a few but whenever a delegate says that I inspired them to develop in some way, wow, how rewarding is that!
Any bizarre or amusing training stories?
As a fresh faced and keen young trainer I once got half way through a days course when the delegates chose to mention I was delivering the wrong event.
What made you want to become a trainer?
Sat in one to many dull, lifeless, talk and chalk sessions. I thought I can do better than that, so I did……!
What would you be if not a trainer?
NOT A TRAINER? What, no tramping up and down the motorways of the UK, no miserable Travelodges, no tables for one? How could I leave all that behind?
Which four words describe your training style?
Passionate
Tough
Humorous
Realistic
Feedback you’d most like to get from a delegate following your course?
“It did just what it “said on the tin” and will enable me to work smarter and achieve more.”
Feedback you’d probably get from delegates following one of your courses?
“I haven’t been on a course for years and was really nervous but it was ok, I only hope my Manager will support me.”
Any words of advice for a delegate about to go on one of your courses?
Suck it and see.
What’s the most fun you’ve ever had while on a training course?
This probably involves a tough exercise where delegates are blindfolded and have to develop their communication skills. I have witnessed groups causing near riots to total silence and all levels of human emotions in-between.
What’s the most important ingredient in order for a course to be successful?
Open minds and a willingness to try something new.
