Catie Stack Senior Accounts Executive

All the usual bookkeeping qualities: VAT, PAYE, cash analysis, invoicing etc. with the added skill of calm, light-hearted but successful credit control.

On a tractor, drinking cider!  Well, not completely – passed the NCFS at Usk College of Agriculture and went on to look after around 60 clients, mainly from an agricultural background.

What has been your most rewarding training experience?

The most rewarding times for me are when new clients are understandably nervous in handing over control of their finances and the consequential relief shortly afterwards that they have done!

Any bizarre or amusing training stories?

Account stories....

Many years ago (but still brought up time and again!), was the time I completely forgot to book a regular monthly VAT visit with a client.  Even the following month I had absolutely no idea I had not turned up the previous month.  My only explanation is that aliens must have abducted me that particular month!

What made you want to become a trainer?

Bookkeeper......

I knew I liked numbers and knew I didn’t like working full time in the same place so when someone mentioned freelance bookkeeping it seemed to tick all the boxes.

What would you be if not a trainer?

A farmer, with the farm located fairly close to the sea so I could horse ride regularly on the beach.

Which four words describe your training style?

It was such a pleasure talking to her, I felt compelled to send the cheque there and then.

Feedback you’d most like to get from a delegate following your course?

Lovely as she is, we had to send the cheque so she would stop ringing us!

Feedback you’d probably get from delegates following one of your courses?

Any words of advice for a delegate about to go on one of your courses?

What’s the most fun you’ve ever had while on a training course?

There appears to be a problem when you put ‘fun’ and ‘bookkeeping’ in the same sentence!  However, the communication part of the job is always good fun, as is the satisfaction of a job well done.

What’s the most important ingredient in order for a course to be successful?

Accuracy
