Phil Wilding
I first began training 8 years ago with British Gas and worked my way into training management. I then moved into an operational sales management role before finally making the break into freelance training!
What has been your most rewarding training experience?
Anyone who says to me “Thank you for the training – it has really enabled me to enjoy my work more”
Any bizarre or amusing training stories?
Yes but too many to mention here and I wouldn’t want to embarrass anyone (myself included!).
What made you want to become a trainer?
I went on a few courses early in my career and they really helped develop me. I wanted to help make that difference for other people.
What would you be if not a trainer?
Definitely something in the ‘people business’. Probably still something training related except within sports.
Which four words describe your training style?
Active
Practical
Fun
Flexible
Feedback you’d most like to get from a delegate following your course?
“From the first minute I threw myself into it as all training is brilliant and this was even better – inspiring!”
Feedback you’d probably get from delegates following one of your courses?
“Much better than I thought it would be. Definitely some stuff I’ll be able to use. Let’s see how it goes.”
Any words of advice for a delegate about to go on one of your courses?
Be honest! Don’t just tell me what you think I want to hear.
What’s the most fun you’ve ever had while on a training course?
With delegates who are prepared to try new things and get stuck in. Learning should be fun.
What’s the most important ingredient in order for a course to be successful?
An open mind – from both the delegates and the trainer.
